Real must win Saturday night to make playoffs

RSL makes last minute push toward MLS playoffs

– Will Real Salt Lake (RSL) make the post-season hunt for the second time in franchise history? A tie tomorrow evening will not be good enough. A win is absolutely necessary. Compound the need for a win with the reality that no more than one of the four teams tied on 39 points can win over the weekend if RSL is to move on and you have a nail bitter. Short story, this is not a good time to be an RSL fan with IBS. Tomorrow night’s game is BYOD (Bring your own Depends)!

Saturday night RSL (10-12-7, 37 pts) takes on Rocky Mountain rival Colorado Rapids (10-9-10, 40 pts) in Salt Lake for the final game of the regular season.  At home RSL is a .500 team against Colorado, both sides picking up three wins, two ties, and seven goals at Rice Eccles and Rio Tinto stadiums. This season the Rapids own bragging rights, having beaten RSL 2-0 in May, then a tie in June as both sides scored a single goal (Movsisyan 79 – Cummings 88).

Probable are FW Fabian Espíndola (R hamstring) and DF Chris Wingert (R rectus strain) for RSL.

Game: Saturday, September 24th at 7 PM MT at Rio Tinto stadium in Sandy, Utah. The match will be televised on Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Español (”MLS on FSC” coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. MT). Fans may also follow the action live on RSL’s official radio partners – KALL 700 Sports (English) and ESPN Deportes 1600-AM (Spanish).
